Dragon

The little boy who I drew the turtle for has a friend who asked for a dragon.  Here he is

Little Turtle

Someone at work asked if I would draw their son a turtle (the little boy asked his dad to ask me).  So here is the little turtle.

I’m unsure how to sketch water so I’m not sure if it has come out clearly that he’s swimming… it’s something I need to practise

Scar Tissue

There are so many amazing songs out there that can touch you and make you laugh, smile or cry.  That can trigger memories or bring images to run free in your imagination; there are some that can make me stop and hang on every word, almost holding my breath.  A number of songs inspired Scar Tissue; when I would hear them I would sketch in the moment, never finishing her.  David Grey ‘This Years Love’ was one of the songs that helped create her…

(she still doesn’t seem finished to me but I think that adds to the feeling behind the image… incomplete)

Gizmo

I was asked by a friend at work if I could draw her friends dog.  I said I would give it a go and asked if she minded me posting it on my blog once I was done.  She said that was fine so here he is; Gizmo

Husky & the Robin

Just after our Indian Summer we seemed to bypass Autumn and head straight to Winter.  One day I was looking out of the window and saw that the sky was a bright grey colour, the type you get just before it snows; people were wrapped up and walking around all hunched up from the cold.  It felt like a late November evening (it was actually an early October morning) and I felt like reaching for a hot chocolate and cuddling up under a blanket.  My mind began to drift off and this is where it ended up.

(we seemed to have back tracked and we now have a nice Autumn feel…crazy weather)

Lost

 I really don’t know what to say about this sketch…

The day I started it I had just watch some kind of count down thing on a music channel, the Leona Lewis version of Snow Patrols ‘Run’ was the last thing I saw before I switched off, I remember thinking the background was stunning and quite haunting.  I started sketching.  I then started thinking about the Tim Burton film ‘Corpse Bride’ (maybe this was due to halloween closing in – that was my costume last year)… I put on the song ‘Wherever you will go’ by The Calling and this is what I ended up with…

I can’t decide if I am finished or not… I have been sitting on this for a few days but thought I would post it any way; if I change it or add anything I’ll just repost it…
