Much like music can make my stomach flip, make me cry or fill me with unexpected happiness, so can dance.
I remember the first time I went to see Ballet, it was ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ (I tagged along on my friends Christmas work do) and it moved me to tears. Since then I have been to see other performances and each one of them has moved me and kept me captivated. And it’s not just ballet, it’s all dance. I went to see ‘Into the Hoods’ 3 times and each time I left feeling happy, light on my feet and wishing I could street dance.
I used to do Irish dancing when I was little and really enjoyed it, I wish i had kept it up but after one Feis and one medal for my efforts I stopped going. A few years later I took on Irish Set Dancing and kept with it until the classes were cancelled.
To tell a story without words and have the audience guessing and knowing what you want to say is, to me, amazing. I love it!
I love the coast and often look up images of the British coastline.
On trips to Ireland I used to wander the tops of the cliffs near my grandparents house in Mayo and wander the Quay in Kilmore in Wexford. Both places are so peaceful and sometimes quite haunting.
I was thinking about taking a trip to Cornwall when I started doodling… this is what I ended up with. I was also listening to Roaming by Ruth Notman quite a lot around this time.
I never did go to Cornwall…
