Flying Post

Published September 23, 2012 by Littleskew

I’ve been away from blogging for so long, I’m worried I’ll be forgotten :(

I’ve had so much on that I’ve had no time to paint (or finish things I’ve started) or sketch/draw…

October will see things calming down so I will be back properly.  Until then, here’s something I did for my aunts birthday in August.  Can’t wait to catch up with all your blogs x

Flowers in Mauve

Published April 19, 2012 by Littleskew

After I had shown a friend my Purple Flowers painting they asked if I could do something for them but in more of a Mauve… I think this is Mauve?  Either way, they liked it; turns out it was an anniversary present for his wife :)

I got carried away with this one and didn’t take a break; I now have a really sore shoulder from hunching over it (I tend to crawl around my canvas rather then using an easel throughout)… totally worth it though due to the sentiment behind it :)

Purple Flowers: SOLD!

Published April 11, 2012 by Littleskew

I’m back!  And have stuff to post!

I’ve had  a quiet couple of months regarding blogging, due to a not so quiet couple of months in the non wordpress world.  Things have now settled down so here I am… and I’m back with a painting… that I have just sold!!!!!

My cousin told me a friend of hers was looking for a painting and suggested that she have a look at my blog as I do sketches and have tried painting before.  Her friend was happy enough with what she saw so asked if I’d do a painting for her.  She told my cousin what she was looking for (colours, ideas) and I did what I could.  I told her she was under no obligation to buy if she did not like it.  Lucky for me she did :)

I have 2 images of the finished painting above.  One with the flash on, one with the flash off.

Scar Tissue

“This years love had better last
Heaven knows it’s high time
I’ve been waiting on my own, too long”

There are so many amazing songs out there that can touch you and make you laugh, smile or cry.  That can trigger memories or bring images to run free in your imagination; there are some that can make me stop and hang on every word, almost holding my breath.  A number of songs inspired Scar Tissue; when I would hear them I would sketch in the moment, never finishing her.  David Grey ‘This Years Love’ was one of the songs that helped create her…

“Start to forget how my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feelin’ like I can’t go on”

(she still doesn’t seem finished to me but I think that adds to the feeling behind the image… incomplete)
